CrossFit is originally an American born, core strength and conditioning program consisting mainly of a mix of aerobic exercise, calisthenics and gymnastics (body weight exercises), and Olympic weight lifting. We use whole body movements because of their ability to produce power. The “creator” of CrossFit, Greg Glassman, was one of the first people to meaningfully define fitness as “Work capacity across broad time and modal domains” This means we want to be good at lots of different disciplines across short medium and long time frames. Therefore, that is what we practise!
An hour-long CrossFit class will typically include a group warm-up, a skill development and / or strength segment, the high-intensity “workout of the day” (or WOD), and a period of individual or group stretching. The programming changes each and every day, just like the demands of every day life. CrossFit is always completely adaptable, and is suitable for all ages and abilities.
