Here at Channel CrossFit, we strive to create a friendly atmosphere for our members whilst providing a motivational and safe place for anyone who wants to join us. No matter how old, how able or how fit, we’re here to take that first step with you!

CrossFit’s founder, Greg Glassman, defined fitness as:

We want to be good at lots of different skills, for both short and long times using functional movements that move your body as a whole, the way you have evolved to move. They will not only make you look fit. They will actually make you better at life!
We are a family friendly gym with a dedicated kids room complete with X-Box, chalk wall and toys to keep the kids happy for an hour while you train!
There is a zero attitude policy. No one will look down on you or make you feel bad. The community and vibe that has grown at Channel CrossFit is second to none. Your success is our success 🙂

WHAT ARE FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENTS?
Functional movements work the whole body, using multiple muscle groups together to create an incredibly effective work out and safely challenge all the different elements of your fitness.
Cardiovascular and respiratory endurance
This is the body’s ability to gather, process and deliver oxygen.
Stamina
The rate at which the body processes and how quickly it depletes it’s energy stores.
Strength
The application of force from one or many muscles.
Flexibility
The range of motion at which a joint can function.
Power
The application of force from one or many muscles in a minimum time.
Speed
The time we take to accomplish a given task or goal.
Coordination
The ability to combine several distinct movement patterns into one movement
Agility
Minimising time between one movement pattern and another.
Balance
Controlling your centre of gravity and maintaining stability.
Accuracy
Controlling movement (your body or an object) to a specified location, or at a specified intensity.

As each of these key points improve, activities that were once hard to accomplish will become easier and more comfortable. Our classes will help you reduce body fat, increase strength, speed, endurance and stamina, and boost your energy levels for every day life.
Unlike a conventional gym, our classes are fully structured, 100% coached, and constantly varied. This means that no two days will be the same, keeping boredom at bay, but also encouraging constant adaptation from your body.

Then just book in and come along to any of the classes which will be adapted for your level of fitness.
Our membership scheme operates on a no contract basis. If after your membership expires you feel like CrossFit isn’t for you, there are no further commitments.

Our staff are among the most highly trained CrossFit coaches in Kent, possessing a level 3 certificate in CrossFit Coaching, and have over 8 years experience in the field.

After years of neglect, I started at channel crossfit. I visited a few gyms before to get a feel for their atmosphere and found that they were crawling with arrogance. I wanted to find a gym with a friendly community feel, I found this with channel crossfit. Not only from Mark the coach, but all the regular members have been welcoming and encouraging!!
I have suffered with chronic back pain for years after a snowboarding accident and car crash. With Mark’s knowledge, expertise and encouragement, I have overcome the confidence issues I’ve had with possibly causing more damage to my back.
I have been attending channel crossfit for about 4 months now, 3 to 4 times a week and have nothing but progression at each and every session. The constantly changing and varied WOD’s are challenging, but satisfying.

So it turns out I’ve been half arsing it in the gym my whole life. Although something is better than nothing as they say. I’ve had poor form squatting, rowing, general weightlifting. Suffered lower back pain pretty much always and didn’t know why. I have a chronic pain condition, a 3 year old, 2 dogs, a full time job, all the normal chores of a working woman. (Don’t panic I don’t want a medal). I did nothing but complain how tired I was but somehow couldn’t sleep at night.
I’m only 4 sessions in & I’ve already lost inches. I’ve learnt more than I ever have, am on my way to overcoming something I was very anxious about starting. I have tonnes more energy than before & as if by magic I’ve fallen asleep pretty much every night before midnight which is basically unheard of for me. I vowed not to spew off about it loads because I’m trying not to put any pressure on myself.
